The Jammu and Kashmir government has instructed all administrative secretaries and heads of departments not to approve any leave requests from employees.

An official memorandum issued on Wednesday stated: “Considering the current situation, the undersigned is directed to request all Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments under their administrative control to refrain from sanctioning any type of leave for any employee, except in extraordinary circumstances.”

In Srinagar, given the prevailing situation, a joint control room has been established at the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC), located in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar. This initiative is under the overall supervision of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Srinagar.

According to an official order, the joint control room will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week (24x7). It will serve as a central point to facilitate coordination between different departments, monitor ongoing developments, and ensure the timely dissemination of information. “It will also function as a grievance redressal platform for the general public, enabling the efficient resolution of issues as they arise,” the order added.

Meanwhile, officials have announced that Kashmir University has postponed all examinations scheduled up to May 10.
