Srinagar, July 31
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday directed the officials to expedite the pending resolution of grievances on fast-track basis and to ensure that the system is accountable and responsive to people’s needs, according to an official statement.
Sinha interacted with citizens and attended to their issues, during ‘LG’s Mulaqaat’—a public grievance hearing programme, at the Civil Secretariat, an official spokesperson said.
During the interaction, the Lt Governor took appraisal of the action taken by the administrative secretaries, deputy commissioners and concerned officials on the grievances received from the citizens.
Sinha said the initiatives like J-K SAMADHAN portal and app, which were launched recently, are aimed at providing an easy way to lodge grievances and ensuring an efficient and speedy redressal. “We have imparted greater transparency to the public service delivery process. Our aim is to empower citizens with special attention to the needs of the marginalised section of the society,” he said.
Meanwhile, in another event, the L-G addressed the Certificate Award Ceremony marking the recognition of Srinagar as ‘World Craft City’ by the World Crafts Council (WCC). Srinagar is the 4th city of India to receive the prestigious title of ‘World Craft City’.
In his address, the Lt Governor congratulated the people, artisans, craftspeople and all stakeholder departments on the momentous occasion. “Truly delighted to see Srinagar being awarded the certificate of ‘World Craft City’ by the WCC. It will go a long way to preserve and promote J&K’s crafts and craftsmanship,” he said.
