J&K Police strengthen digital policing in Jammu region with 4 e-FIRs in a day

To enhance policing and ensure accessibility across the Union Territory, the J&K Police registered four e-FIRs in different districts of the Jammu region on Saturday.

An e-FIR was lodged at Poonch police station under Section 137(2) of BNS regarding the missing/abduction of a girl child from her residence. The complaint was filed via email by the Project Coordinator, Child Helpline Poonch. Despite sustained efforts, the whereabouts of the girl remain unknown.

In Jammu district, two e-FIRs were registered at Satwari and Bahu Fort police stations. The Satwari police registered a case under Section 303(2) BNS based on a WhatsApp complaint from Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Lower Gadigadh. He reported that his motorbike, parked opposite Shambhave Ice Cream Parlour, Gadigadh, had been stolen.

At Bahu Fort police station, an e-FIR was registered under Sections 281/125(a) BNS following an email complaint from Joginder Singh, a resident of Top Sherkhania. He reported a road accident involving his son, Aryan, who is currently undergoing treatment at DMC Ludhiana. The police have initiated further investigation into the matter.

In Udhampur district, Basantgarh police station registered an e-FIR based on a WhatsApp complaint from Muzfar Hussain, a resident of Basantgarh. The complaint stated that on February 28, around 8:30 pm, 20 iron angles worth Rs 20,000 were stolen from his shop at Panara Route. Due to continuous rainfall, the shop had remained closed, and the theft was discovered only upon reopening.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, congratulated police officials for registering the first e-FIR at Bakshi Nagar police station and a zero FIR at Janipur police station on Friday.

DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma visited Bakshi Nagar police station and honoured SP North Vivek Shekhar, SDPO City West Satish Bhardwaj, Janipur SHO Vikram Sharma, and Bakshi Nagar SHO Inspector Azad Ahmed Manhas.

According to a statement from the DIG’s office, the awarded officers played a pivotal role in implementing new criminal laws, maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety and security of the local population. “Their professional approach and unwavering dedication led to critical breakthroughs, further reinforcing the credibility of law enforcement in the region,” the statement read.
