Jammu and Kashmir Resident Commission in New Delhi celebrated World Meditation Day on Friday.

On the occasion, a meditation workshop was held in collaboration with the Art of Living Foundation. The workshop witnessed participation by employees of the Resident Commission and its sub-offices at Amritsar and Mumbai.

Besides, over 180 degree colleges from across the state joined the workshop virtually. The workshop was conducted under the aegis of Resident Commission’s ‘Hello J&K’ initiative, which acts as a robust platform to host various online and offline programmes with progressive social themes.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Resident Commissioner Dr Rashmi Singh emphasised the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of meditation. During the workshop, role of pranayama in meditation and how meditation can act as an effective tool to overcome modern day challenges was also elaborated.

During the workshop, Art of Living teacher Gagan Tokas emphasised the role of meditation in combating depression.

Shruti Bhardwaj, nodal officer for Hello J&K initiative reiterated the role of meditation to attain mindfulness in consonance with the UN theme for the debut World Meditation Day.
