Srinagar, August 14
A J&K Police sub-inspector (SI) was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while accepting a bribe from a truck driver.

The ACB said a truck driver had parked his truck near Batamaloo, Srinagar, and a SI, identified as Farooq Ahmad Abassi, asked him to produce documents of the vehicle.
“The complainant showed the relevant documents, but the said SI instead demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 to return the documents.
Meanwhile, the complainant approached the ACB, Srinagar, and a case was registered. A trap was laid near Batamaloo and the SI was arrested while receiving the bribe,” the ACB spokesman said.

After obtaining the police remand, the accused has been shifted to Shaheed Gunj police station, Srinagar. — TNS
