Jammu, July 24

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) chief Altaf Bukhari on Friday demanded that J&K residents be allowed to exercise their democratic rights like other parts of the country as he highlighted his party’s resolve to restore statehood to the union territory.

“Like other parts of the country, people of J&K too deserve democratic rights,” Bukhari said, adding that statehood, which was “snatched” a year back, must be restored.

“We will fight for the restoration of statehood”, he asserted.

Bukhari regretted that people of J&K were facing numerous problems due to irresponsible bureaucracy at the helm of the affairs.

He asked the Union Home Minister to immediately restore statehood to J&K and start 4G mobile network.

“Bureaucrats are out-of-bound for common people who are facing day to day problems due to complete breakdown of the system,” he said.

“Woes of common people are compounding with every passing day due to divided bureaucracy,” Bukhari added.

He claimed that the bureaucracy was not listening to the people and no developmental work was being undertaken since last one year.

Demanding restoration of high-speed Internet in J&K, Bukhari regretted that students were the worst sufferers and despite repeated appeals no action had been taken to restore 4G network.

“We do not know why people of J&K have been deprived of their rights?” he asked.

Bukhari also called for an end to “divisive politics” in J&K and said that people from both the regions need to be united.
