The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has finally modified the pattern of question papers on the analogy of the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) for the annual examination to be held in October-November this year.

The new pattern will be for the exam to be held in the Kashmir division, winter zone of the Jammu division and the Union Territory of Ladakh this year and February-March 2020-21 in case of the summer zone in the Jammu division. The model question papers are available on the board website www.jkbose.ac.in.

The decision of the board to do away with the age-old pattern of setting up question papers was on the cards since last year. The new question papers will be framed taking into consideration analytical approach, critical thinking and objectivity.

All candidates of Class XII academic Session 2019-20 in case of the Kashmir division and winter zone of the Jammu division will get the question papers on the modified pattern when they appear in the board exams this year.

However, the reappear and failed candidates will get the old pattern of the question papers for only one year in two subsequent examinations.

Sources said the decision of modifying the pattern of the question papers was made by the school board after it observed that J&K students were not getting much success in qualifying the competitive examinations as compared to those studying in the CBSE schools.
