Jammu, December 24
As many as nine private schools in Jammu division have been disaffiliated with immediate effect by the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE). Of the nine institutes, a maximum of four disaffiliated schools were from Jammu district, two each from Samba and Kathua districts and one from Udhampur district.
The disaffiliated schools in Jammu district were Renu Public high School, Raipur Satwari, Secular Academy High School, Ghou Manhasa, Ankur Vidyalaya, Jawahar Nagar, New Plot and Jagriti Niketan High School, Kachi Chawni. Disaffiliated schools in Samba district included RK Model Higher Secondary School, Bari-Brahmana and Green Public School, Gurha-Slathia.
In Kathua district, Bal Vidyalaya, Sawan Chak and Shivalik Bal Niketan Higher Secondary School, Kotli were disaffiliated by the school education board. The lone school disaffiliated by BOSE in Udhampur district was Sanmati Vimal Jain Academy.
Sources said the decision regarding disaffiliation of these nine institutes was taken in a recently held state affiliation committee (SAC) of JKBOSE, wherein the grant of affiliation, up-grading and renewal in the period of affiliation in favour of private educational institutes of both Jammu and Kashmir divisions were discussed. They further said the main reason behind the disaffiliation was lack of mandatory certificates viz fire safety certificates, building safety certificates, chemical safety certificate etc possessed by these institute despite given reminder umpteen times by the school education board.
“Apart from non-availability of mandatory certificates, a few of the institutes to our surprise have approached the office for their disaffiliation citing poor enrollment of students for the past few years”, a BOSE official said. When asked whether the disaffiliation is temporary or permanent, the BOSE official replied, “The disaffiliation of all nine institutes is permanent and in future if they again have to affiliate, they have to follow the procedure from the start”.
The state affiliation committee (SAC) is constituted by JKBOSE to tighten noose around the educational institutes who have majorconstruction/infrastructural deficiencies. The school management continue to neglect the above posing threat to the lives of students enrolled there. Before granting affiliation, the inspection of all BOSE -affiliated schools is being carried out on an annual basis by the teams constituted.
Around 4,38,115 students are enrolled in 2,816 private schools in Jammu province.
