Srinagar, December 18

Kashmiri journalists today staged a protest in Srinagar against the alleged assault against two of their colleagues by the J&K Police on Tuesday.

Two journalists Azaan Javaid of The Print and Anees Zargar of Newsclick were slapped, abused and intimidated by senior police officers outside Islamia College of Science and Commerce while covering a protest.

The journalists staged a silent protest against the harassment and assault. They were demanding action against the policemen involved in the assault.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir Press Club took up the matter with the senior police authorities and Department of Information. In this regard, a Kashmir Press Club delegation along with the two journalists met the SSP, Srinagar, Haseeb Mughal, and apprised him of the facts. — TNS
