The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday said it has arrested a forest guard of the J&K Forest Department for demanding and accepting bribe.

A statement said the guard is from the Billawar zonal office, Kathua district. He had demanded and accepted Rs 35,000 from the complainant.

A case was registered by the CBI on March 20 against the guard for taking bribe to allow the complainant to carry out smooth execution of contract work i.e. “construction / repair of road and release of key of JCB machine forcibly taken by the accused”. The CBI laid a trap and caught the forest guard red-handed.
