The Kishtwar-Sinthan road, connecting Kishtwar in Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Anantnag, was reopened for medical emergencies, officials said on Sunday.

Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma ordered that only those vehicles carrying patients for medical-related emergencies would be allowed to move towards Srinagar and vice versa through Kishtwar-Sinthan route.

Quoting the order, officials said the timing of the movement of permitted vehicles would be from 10 am to 4 pm only. The Sinthan top and adjoining areas attract heavy snowfall during winters as a result of which the road remains closed for five to six months annually from December. — PTI
