“In a rare opportunity to bridge tradition and community, national award-winning artisans and weavers will step out from their workplaces to share personal stories, unveil the intricate techniques of their crafts and engage in conversations with visitors and tourists,” he said.

The campaign will also highlight the 15 GI-registered crafts that define Kashmiri excellence, including the hypnotic patterns of carpet weaving, the luxurious warmth of Pashmina and Kani weaving, the delicate artistry of Papier mache, the sculptural beauty of walnut wood carving, and the splendour of Khatamband ceiling. “Visitors will also learn about the vital role of QR coding in verifying authenticity, ensuring that every piece carries the true stamp of Kashmiri heritage,” the spokesperson added.

Adding to the vibrancy, the spokesman stated that the events will also showcase Srinagar’s prestigious status as a designated World Craft City and part of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network, a dual distinction that underscores the city’s unparalleled contributions to global craftsmanship.

The Department will also organise special student interaction sessions with legendary craftsmen, inspiring the next generation to preserve and innovate within these traditional arts.

“The visitors can witness live demonstrations, from the loom’s Pashmina weaving to the pinpoint precision of walnut carving, offering an up-close view of how these famed Kashmir handicrafts come to life,” he stated.
