The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, on Monday celebrated Diwali with Army personnel stationed in the Union Territory.
The event, organised by the Fire & Fury Corps at Rinchen Auditorium, was attended by Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, GOC 14 Corps; Major General Praveen Chhabra, GOC 72 Sub Area; Brigadier Umesh Parab; and Brigadier Ajay Katoch.
Extending Diwali greetings on behalf of the people of Ladakh, the Lt Governor saluted the bravery, dedication and resilience of the soldiers serving in extreme conditions to safeguard the nation’s borders.
He said that while citizens across the country celebrate festivals with their families, the Army personnel, far from home, remain on high alert to ensure national security. “The nation remains indebted to our jawans, who guard the frontiers in the harshest weather so that we may celebrate Diwali in peace,” the L-G said.
He also paid tribute to those who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, affirming that their service and courage will always be remembered with gratitude.
