Ladakh archery team qualifies for National Games
Delivers outstanding performance at Senior Archery National Championships in Hyderabad
The Ladakh archery team has delivered an outstanding performance at the Senior Archery National Championships held in Hyderabad, where 31 states and union territories competed.
The team showcased talent and resilience, qualifying for the round of 16 and registering a remarkable victory against Punjab. Advancing to the quarterfinals, the team fought a close battle against Andhra Pradesh, narrowly losing by just two points.
Despite the narrow defeat, Ladakh achieved a historic milestone as the team qualified for the National Games, marking one of the most significant accomplishments in the region’s modern sporting journey.
The team representing Ladakh included Hussain Phokar, Nurboo Phyang, Nubu Thiksay and Ali Sanku.
General secretary of the Archery Association of Ladakh, Lobzang Sherab, praised the team’s dedication and expressed confidence that this achievement will inspire more youth across the region to pursue excellence in modern archery.
Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi also extended congratulations to the team. He stated that Ladakh is steadily establishing its presence on the sports map of India, and that archery is one of the key sectors where Ladakh holds immense potential.
This victory has brought immense pride to the people of Ladakh and marks a new chapter in the growth of sports in the region, he said.
