Ladakh development has got boost: Mathur

Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) RK Mathur sees the Centre’s liberal assistance and budgetary allocations to Ladakh as a guarantee of its bright future where youth will realise their dreams and aspirations.
After having accomplished the “first daunting task of making the administrative structure functional in the newly created UT, harsh winters were a big challenge and these were overcome by ensuring reliable power supply, airlifting of fresh vegetables and when the working season was about to start, Covid hit the region like other places all across the world. That challenge too is being overcome”.
Mathur said the Centre had proactively assisted Ladakh on development through missions like “Carbon Neutral UT”.
In a unique step, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, has a provision for granting a special development package for Ladakh. The Home Minister has announced that this shall be a non-lapsable package of about Rs 50,000 crore.
