Ladakh MP listens to public grievances during Leh tour

Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Haji Haneefa Jan, undertook a two-day tour of the Leh district, visiting the villages of Stok, Matho, Chuchot Shamma, Gongma and Yokma. The tour concluded on Saturday evening.

During the visit, Nambardars from all the respective villages presented detailed memorandums outlining key grievances and demands. A significant number of issues raised pertained to PMGSY blacktopping works, along with requests for compensation for land and trees acquired during road construction.

On the second day, the MP visited the Primary Health Centre at Chuchot Gongma, as well as the newly constructed Mother and Child Health Centre building and the Higher Secondary School in Chuchot Shamma, where a hostel has been sanctioned. He also visited the Youl-Dat Society, where the Martyr Zakir Hussain Tournament was underway, and interacted with the participating players.

Further, he inspected the PM SHRI Inclusive Education Centre and the Residential Hostel for CWSN at Chuchot Yokma. A budget accommodation facility at the Imam Bargah was also inspected, where he listened to further concerns shared by the community. He also held interactions with villagers, many of whom raised issues relating to flood relief for affected families and the ongoing land dispute concerning the proposed railway track.

MP Haneefa Jan stated that the primary objective of the tour was to directly engage with the public and understand their issues. He reaffirmed his commitment to being a people-centric leader who represents the collective voice of Ladakh and strives to build a stronger, more prosperous future for the region.
