Ladakh villagers receive Svamitva property cards from PM Modi
Residents of Sani village in Zanskar tehsil of Ladakh were among the beneficiaries who were given property cards by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
The PM virtually distributed these property cards under the Svamitva Scheme to “Abadi Deh” owners and said it will help people in getting loans and benefits of government schemes.
A Kargil administration spokesperson said it marked a transformative milestone for the region’s development. Officials said the programme, organised under the Panchayati Raj framework by the Block Development Department, witnessed enthusiastic participation. The event began with a warm welcome speech by the Block Development Officer (BDO), Zanskar, who emphasised the significance of the occasion and its positive impact on rural governance.
Zanskar Tehsildar who gave an insightful address on the Svamitva Scheme, shedding light on its objectives, also provided a detailed overview of the ongoing Ladakh Land Records Management Agency (LLARMA) survey, terming it a ground-breaking initiative in the digitisation of land records and improved transparency.
During the event, a total of 73 property cards were virtually distributed to the Abadi Deh owners of Sani village. Notably, five female beneficiaries were among those who received property cards, underscoring the government’s focus on gender equity and inclusion in rural development.
The spokesperson said, “This initiative is set to bring transformative changes to the lives of rural landowners by providing them with secure land rights, reducing disputes and enabling them to access loans and participate in developmental schemes.”
“The distribution of property cards under the Svamitva Scheme reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to building a self-reliant and progressive rural India,” he said.
Zanskar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) further highlighted the importance of the Svamitva Scheme, explaining how it will bring long-term benefits to rural communities by reducing land disputes, promoting economic activities and enabling access to financial services.
He congratulated the beneficiaries and underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and governance.
