Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, chairman Tashi Gyalson met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and briefed him on some of the most pertinent issues concerning the region.

The existing budgetary allocation to LAHDC was emphasised by Gyalson and he requested for additional support from the Special Development Package (SDP) to meet the growing needs of the region.

There was a thorough discussion on the current Ladakh-specific problems with the aim of solving them as a whole.

The CEC placed stress on the recruitment process and also an integrated policy of land regularisation. He also raised the issue of increased air connectivity to enhance accessibility and promote tourism in Ladakh, which will be beneficial to the local economy as the flow of tourists in the region has begun.

Gyalson also apprised the development activities that have taken place after Ladakh became a Union Territory and extended an invitation to Amit Shah to visit the region to inaugurate various projects.
