Srinagar, July 5
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) today expressed concern over the alleged failure of the government to save the Valley based small-scale units.
‘No contracts to locals’
No concrete proposal for giving any relief to local enterprises has been devised or submitted to authorities — Syed Iqbal Tahir, jkpm vice-president
“From the news in the media, I gather that major contracts are going to non-local units in an unabated manner. So far, no concrete proposal for giving any relief to local enterprises has been devised or submitted to any relevant authority here or at the Centre. This depicts the callous attitude of the authorities towards the business sector in general,” JKPM vice-president Syed Iqbal Tahir said in a statement. “In such a situation, no youth in J&K can even think of becoming an entrepreneur and even the existing entrepreneurs will prefer closing down their business and retrench their employees….in J&K, the small-scale industries are getting choked and this will have disastrous consequence. The JKPM demands immediate intervention from the government in the matter,” he added.
