Man arrested for constructing replica of Kaaba in Baramulla
Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended a man in Baramulla after he constructed a structure resembling the Holy Kaaba, which later went viral on social media. This triggered anger among people in the Valley, who sought strict action against the person.
Meanwhile, the structure was later demolished by locals, the police said.
Police in a statement said that Abdul Razak Lone, a resident of Waripora Kunzar, appears to be mentally unsound. “Preliminary inquiry suggests that the individual appears to be mentally unsound. As per due legal procedure, necessary medical evaluation will be conducted and he will be taken to a psychiatric hospital after obtaining requisite orders from the Executive Magistrate,” the police said.
In an advisory, police urged the general public to refrain from spreading rumours or misinformation regarding this incident on social media or any other platform.
“Circulating unverified information can lead to unnecessary panic and misinterpretation of facts. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found indulging in rumour-mongering or attempts to incite unrest,” the police said. “We request all citizens to maintain peace, communal harmony, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Any concerns or suspicious activities should be reported to the police through official channels.”
