With no new cases and the situation under control, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases so far is three, one in Leh and two in Kargil.

Ladakh Administration spokesperson Health Secretary Rigzin Samphel confirmed that 78 per cent of Covid-19 cases were cured in the region.

The first-ever Covid-19 testing laboratory in UT Ladakh will also be set up in Leh as the UT Administration has started the process of its establishment and the site for setting up of the lab at Choglamsar, near Leh town.

The testing equipment — real time-pcr machine set with its accessories, including thermo cycler, desktop, pen drive with bio-rad software, cd with delta curve software, screw and plate set — had been dispatched earlier by Member Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal. These equipment reached Leh on March 29 after being airlifted by the Indian Airforce aircraft.

Due to the absence of Covid-19 testing lab in the region, the Health Department had been sending blood samples of the suspected patients by passengers flight to the National Centre for Disease Control, Delhi, until the lockdown.

However, due to the cancellation of passengers flight during the lockdown, they have to coordinate with the Indian Airforce for sending the blood samples of the suspected patients.
