The Directorate of School Education has constituted a task force of academic mentors (subject experts) for all classes, especially from Class VI to XII for academic mentoring through tele-counselling helpline, “Aao Baat Karein”.

The school directorate has extended special services of its tele-counselling helpline, “Aao Baat Karein”, amid the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic threat for handling queries of students, teachers and parents on anxiety, academics, exams, e-resources and time schedules.

Sources said it was observed by the DSEJ that many students either did not have an access to the online, tele or radio classes or other e-resources available while some students had doubts even after attending the online, tele-classes or after self-study.

They further said although all schools had formed WhatsApp groups and subject teachers were in regular touch with the students, some students had advanced queries that remained unaddressed.

“Despite maximum effort by the directorate to compensate the study loss due to the lockdown, still a lot remains to be achieved in this regard. A need has been felt to constitute a task force of academic mentors (subject experts) for Classes VI to XII. These academic mentors are available from 10 am to 8 pm through “Aao Baat Karen” helpline number 6006800068”, a DSEJ official said.

“These mentors are attending and also resolving student queries on academics through phone or other media. However, academics here means any question, topic, chapter, concept, related to any subject as per the JKBOSE syllabus and DSEJ academic calendar”, the official further said.

“All the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of Jammu divisions have already been instructed to direct the head of institutions (both summer and winter zones) to inform students and teachers that they can call at the tele-counselling helpline, “Aao Baat Karein” regarding academic queries or difficulties”, the official stated.
