Minister Javed Ahmed Rana reviews Muharram arrangements in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Saturday reviewed preparations for Muharram processions in Srinagar’s Shia-majority areas.

Joined by MLA Zadibal, Tanveer Sadiq, and senior officials, Rana visited Imambaras at Bagwanpora Nawa Bagh, Gulshan Bagh, and Saida Kadal.

The minister emphasised the importance of close coordination among the departments to ensure that all arrangements are ensured well in advance. He called for inter-departmental coordination to ensure electricity, clean water, sanitation, medical aid, and traffic control during the religious events.

Rana met caretakers and community members, assuring their concerns will be addressed promptly.

Rana directed the officials to address the public grievances on priority to ensure a peaceful imambaras and comfortable experience for the devotees.

He assured that the government is committed towards facilitating peaceful and smooth conduct of religious events in the region. “Our government is committed to ensuring peaceful and smooth conduct of Muharram,” he said.

Locals raised issues like poor drainage, damaged roads, and lack of potable water. Rana directed officials to resolve these at the earliest.

Member of Legislative Assembly Sadiq appreciated the administration’s proactive steps, saying smooth religious observance strengthens social cohesion.
