Srinagar, January 20

Five Union Ministers, as part of ambitious outreach programme of the Narendra Modi government, will start arriving in Srinagar tomorrow.

The ministers visiting Kashmir over the next few days are Telecommunications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik and Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy.

“At least eight meetings and programmes are scheduled to be held in Kashmir in the next four days,” an official said. The ministers, however, would not be visiting militancy affected south Kashmir districts.

The ministers will be attending functions and visiting places at Manigam, Ganderbal, Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, Faqir Gujri village, Harwan, and Sopore in north Kashmir.

The Modi government has launched the most ambitious initiative for the newly created Union Territory of J&K by deputing three dozen top Central ministers to make people aware of the “positive impact” of abrogation of Article 370.
