Moderate Hurriyat urges release of prisoners, restoration of 4G services
Urges people to follow preventive measures to check spread of Covid-19

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) headed by Mirwaiz Farooq has expressed concern over the alarming situation arising out of Covid-19 across the world and appealed the authorities for restoration of the 4G Internet services in Kashmir.
In its first statement post the abrogation of Article 370, the amalgam has also appealed the people of Jammu and Kashmir to strictly follow the preventive measures and guidelines as suggested by medical experts and agencies concerned to save the precious lives and stop the spreading of the disease further.
“Hurriyat appeals the people to stay indoors to contain the virus and prevent its spread”, it said in an e-mailed statement.
The Hurriyat has also asked the authorities for “immediate release of all Kashmiri prisoners languishing in various jails across India, on humanitarian grounds as their well-being is under threat in the wake of the Covid outbreak.”
“Crowded jails are most vulnerable in the spread of the virus among inmates, which is a matter of concern”, the amalgam said, adding that “in view of this global health crisis that has spread to the Valley, the 4G Internet facility should be immediately restored.”
“Given the widespread negative impact of the Covid disease (for which it was declared pandemic), the authorities must impose an immediate ban on the entry of non-locals and foreign tourists to Kashmir”, it said.
