Mughal Road, which serves as an alternative link to the Kashmir Valley from Jammu region was shut due to the accumulation of snow. On the other hand, Sinthan Pass in Kishtwar was also shut while the Srinagar-Kargil road was closed for the vehicular traffic due to the slippery conditions.

Even as the vital Srinagar- Jammu National Highway remained open, commuters said that there were traffic jams in the Qazigund area— the gateway of Kashmir.
