Multiple locations raided in Rajouri as part of anti-terror crackdown
In a bid to tighten the noose on terrorists and their associates, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday conducted raids at 25 places in Rajouri district.
A police spokesperson said that incriminating materials and important documents were recovered and seized during the massive searches.
The officials said the raids were carried out in different areas of the border district as part of the ongoing investigation into cases related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Houses of terrorists operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were among the raided locations.
There is suspicion that these ultras operating from across the border are helping the Pakistani terrorists, who have infiltrated into the Indian side. A Rajouri police official informed, “On the strength of warrant received from NIA Court, Rajouri police conducted extensive searches at 25 locations across the district including Rajouri town, Nowshera, Thanamandi, Darhal, Koteranka, Budhal, Manjakot and Chingus.”
These searches were conducted as a part of investigation linked to a case registered at Rajouri police station, the official said. The case pertain to a terrorist network active in Rajouri which with the connivance of proscribed terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has been working to activate OGWs in J&K to initiate, organize and execute terror-related activities.
Meanwhile, DGP Nalin Parbhat also visited Machedi, Badnota, Sadrota and Dugaini in Kathua district on Wednesday where suspicious activities have seen a rise in recent times.
