Murmu to decide on Durbar Move

Lieutenant-Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Girish Chandra Murmu will take a call on the shifting of the Durbar move to the summer capital Srinagar on Monday and decide whether the biannual shifting of the seat of the government is possible when the number of coronavirus cases in the Valley is increasing.
The decision will be taken at a meeting.
This year, the Durbar move was deferred till June 15 after a decision taken by the Union Territory government in April in view of the alarming rise in the virus cases. The civil secretariat was, however, opened in Srinagar in the first week of May.
The employees were given a choice to work “as is where is basis”.
The review meeting will take place against the backdrop of the current situation in the Valley, where eight districts have been declared a red zone.
It will also take into account the willingness of the employees who were reluctant to move to Srinagar because of the spread of the virus in Kashmir.
Since the lockdown, people in Kashmir have not had direct access to the government as the Durbar has not shifted fully to Kashmir yet.
