Mysterious blast in Lal Bazar, cop hurt
Srinagar, February 6
A security man was injured in a mysterious blast in Lal Bazar’s locality today.
The explosion took place outside the Lal Bazar police station, resulting in injuries to a policeman, an officer said.
The blast created panic in the area as residents took it as a grenade attack on the police station. Soon after the blast, forces cordoned the area.
“We are looking at the nature of the blast,” the officer said.
On Wednesday, J&K Police chief Dilbag Singh said some module was there, which had carried a recent grenade attack in Srinagar. In the grenade attack at Lal Chowk on Sunday, four civilians and two CRPF men were injured.
“We have busted several modules of terrorists last month but the grenade attack at Lal Chowk shows that there are some remnants. But the security forces are alert and foiling their plans,” the DGP had said.
He said the police had got some clues about those who carried out the grenade attack at Lal Chowk. — TNS
