The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday today paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
A programme was held at Sher-e-Kashmir, Jammu, which was attended by senior leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, party’s additional general secretary Ajay Sadhotra, provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta, other senior leaders and party workers.
According to a statement, Choudhary described Singh as a leader of great vision and wisdom. He said Manmohan Singh played a key role in “transforming India’s economy and ensuring progress of all sections of society.”
“Dr Singh’s calm leadership and focus on development are lessons for everyone. He was a true statesman,” he said.
Ajay Sadhotra highlighted the achievements of the former prime minister in making India a respected global power. He said Singh’s economic reforms brought growth and opportunity to millions. “Dr Singh’s dedication to peace and development is a guiding light for us all,” he remarked.
Gupta praised Singh’s leadership during tough times. He said Singh’s vision and honesty helped shape modern India and strengthen the country economically. “His life teaches us the importance of hard work and humility,” Gupta said, encouraging party workers to follow his example.
NC provincial secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed spoke about former PM’s role in building a strong and inclusive India. He said Dr Singh’s policies brought prosperity to many and showed how a nation can grow while caring for all its entire people.
Two minutes silence was observed in memory of Dr Manmohan Singh.
