Srinagar, August 8
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at multiple locations in Srinagar and Delhi to probe the alleged financial links between a businessman and militants through the suspended Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Devender Singh.
Sources said the house belonging to Sahil Jaroo, a carpet trader, was searched today in Nageen Srinagar and Greater Kailash in New Delhi.
“The searches were carried in connection with the financial angles pertaining to the Hizbul Mujahideen commander Syed Naveed Babu and DSP Devender Singh case,” official sources said.
Electronic devices and several documents had been seized by the NIA during the searches.
Last month, the NIA had filed a chargesheet against six people, including suspended DSP Davinder Singh, for alleged terror activities in the country.
Davinder Singh was arrested, along with top Hizbul militants, including a top commander Naveed Babu, in January this year. The case was later handed over to the NIA.
