No Kashmiri Pandit working under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) in the Valley has resigned in protest against targeted killings, Minister of State (MoS) for Home Nityanand Rai said today in the Lok Sabha.

Responding to a written question in the House, the minister said 5,502 Pandits had been provided government jobs in different departments under the PMDP.

“As per the information provided by the J&K administration, no Kashmiri Pandit working under the PMDP has resigned in protest against the killing of community members in the Valley,” Rai said in a written reply.

Meanwhile, responding to another question, the minister said as per the information made available by the J&K authorities, 28 migrant workers have been killed in the Valley since 2017.

Terms under pm’s employment scheme

  • Under the PM’s special employment scheme for migrants, the employees have to sign a judicial agreement that they will not seek transfer outside Kashmir valley
  • As per Kashmiri Migrants Special Drive Recruitment Rules, 2009, migrant employees shall be terminated if they migrate from Kashmir for any reason at any stage of their service
  • “The selectee agrees to serve in the Kashmir valley and will at no stage opt or seek transfer outside the Kashmir valley,” reads an agreement between a Kashmiri migrant employee and government, a copy of which is with The Tribune
