Former J&K Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said: “No words will suffice to express the tragedy at Doda on Wednesday where Captain Deepak Singh was killed during an encounter with terrorists.”
“The endless cycle of violence and mayhem in J&K continues to devour the lives of innocents despite tall claims of normalcy by the administration. My deepest condolences to his family,” she wrote on X.
Omar Abdullah, former J&K Chief Minister and vice-president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, said: “It is highly unfortunate that the situation in some parts of Jammu region has been allowed to deteriorate like this.”
“May Captain Deepak Singh’s soul rests in peace. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues,” he said. Former security officials also expressed concern over the casualties on security side.
“Tragic news. Another precious young life lost — an Army Captain from the 48 Rashtriya Rifles lost his life in the fight against Pakistani terrorists in Assar Doda. This calls for sincere introspection,” Former J&K Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid wrote on X. — OC
