A one-day workshop on Communication and Information Technology: Teaching/Learning in 21st Century was held at North Campus, University of Kashmir.
The workshop was organised by Post Graduate Department of English, North Campus, Kashmir University, in collaboration with the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), KU.
Officials said hundreds of BEd students from north Kashmir attended the workshop and participated in the exchange of ideas on the subject.
Director, North Campus, professor Naseer Iqbal, while inaugurating the workshop, urged the students and teachers to “upgrade their communication skills and use of the ICT for better and effective teaching in the present era”.
He advised aspiring teachers to “show utmost commitment to the job of teaching for a better future of Kashmir”. He further said that “human resource development should be the priority of all our teaching/learning activities”.
Dr Mohammad Ameen Parray, liaison officer, Distance Education and Coordinator, Department of English, delivered the keynote address on the theme of the workshop during which he highlighted the importance of “proper communication in teaching/learning” and emphasised on “dialogic pedagogy for maximizing knowledge production in our schools and colleges”.
DrJavid Ahmad, coordinator, Bed, North Kashmir, DDE, University of Kashmir, emphasised on the need of “taking education to the doorstep of people through distance mode by cultivating a humane and academically communicative and dialogic atmosphere in our schools, colleges and universities”.
Other resource persons who spoke on the occasion included Dr Wasim Khaliq, Dr Muddasir, Dr Atiqullah and others. Dr Wasim Khaliq threw light on the psychological barriers of communication in our education system.
