A day after the opposition parties in Kashmir Valley came down heavily on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of Sonamarg tunnel, CM’s Adviser Nasir Aslam Wani advised them to do constructive criticism.

“I am surprised at the kind of behaviour they wanted from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah,” Wani told reporters in Srinagar on Tuesday.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a guest and Omar Abdullah put forth his point and asked the country’s Prime Minister for statehood. “I don’t know any Chief Minister who has talked like this,” he said, and asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remember the time when they were in power.

On Monday, the opposition parties, especially PDP, had taken a dig at Omar Abdullah for praising the Prime Minister and not talking about the political issues of J&K.

On a question why Srinagar MP Aga Ruhullah wasn’t present in Monday’s inauguration, Wani said the MP was in South India to attend a meeting.

Meanwhile, National Conference state spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar has also condemned PDP president Mehbooba Mufti saying “we are in this situation because of the ill-conceived moves of the PDP.”

“Omar’s call for the restoration of statehood has caused quite a stir, especially among the PDP. It is his rightful duty to advocate for this cause, and his approach was both dignified and official. It’s a stark contrast to the obsequious language used by Mehboobaji when she was the CM, which often bordered on cringe-worthy when addressing the Government of India,” he said. “It seems like the CM is taking a more direct and assertive approach, and it’s definitely making waves in the political arena,” he added.

Imran stated that PDP and its leadership have been consistently rejected by the people, from DDC polls to parliament as well as Assembly elections. “It’s high time for PDP to gracefully take a back seat, which the people have kindly relocated her to, and let Omar government work on restoring what was snatched from us due to the deceptions of PDP. This whole theatrical performance won't make a difference in the end. People see through their charades and won't be fooled," he said.
