Over 1,600 passengers travel on two special Katra-New Delhi trains
Were run over the weekend in view of heavy passenger rush and flight disruptions across the country
More than 1,600 passengers travelled on a special train operated between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi over the weekend in view of heavy passenger rush and flight disruptions across the country.
The Northern Railway operated the reserved special train (No. 04082) on December 13 and 14. On Saturday, the train departed Katra as per schedule and successfully managed the large turnout of passengers, enabling them to reach their destinations comfortably. The occupancy on the first day exceeded 60 per cent, with over 700 seats booked following the notification of the special service.
On Sunday, the response was even stronger, with more than 900 seats booked. In total, over 1,600 seats were booked across the two days.
Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, said the successful operation of the special train provided a reliable and time-efficient mode of transport for devotees and other passengers visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
“We are pleased to announce that the operation of the reserved special train from Katra to New Delhi was completely successful. The train halted at major stations along its route, including Jammu, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt and Panipat, benefiting passengers from various regions,” he said.
Singhal added that the overwhelming response from passengers and the smooth operation of the service without any major inconvenience reflected the efficient management of the railways and the commitment of its staff.
