The Udhampur police in Jammu region destroyed over three quintals of psychotropic substances seized in 26 different cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to an official police statement, the destroyed substances included 310.9 kg of poppy straw, 528.5 gm of heroin and 114 gm of charas. The destruction was carried out through controlled incineration at M/S Anmol Healthcare in Vijaypur, Samba, following all required environmental safety protocols. The entire process was videographed and conducted under secure supervision, the police added.
This action was taken in accordance with Section 52-A of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Notably, on December 5, 2024, the Udhampur police also incinerated approximately 2,000 kg of narcotics in a similar manner, demonstrating their continued commitment to tackling drug trafficking and substance abuse.
