Over 50 historical monuments of Jammu and Kashmir will be renovated and preserved by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to attract tourists from across the world to visit these sites.
Union Minister of State for Tourism Parladh Singh Patel on Monday said the ASI had identified over 50 historical monuments for renovation and preservation. “These monuments included 15 in the Jammu region and would be popularised before the country and the world,” he said.
In an informal chat with mediapersons after reviewing the ongoing conservation work on the historical Mubarak Mandi heritage complex, Singh said J&K had a treasure of rich cultural heritage and the need of the hour was to preserve these sites. The minister said he had decided to visit the Mubarak Mandi complex as this was a historical building, reflecting the rich heritage of J&K.
Meanwhile, when Union Minister was reviewing work on the Mubarak Mandi complex, some locals of the heritage mohalla demanded that local residents must be involved in the renovation work. While demanding the acceleration of the renovation work of the heritage complex, locals also demanded that their vehicles should be allowed to enter the complex.
