Pak national arrested as BSF foils infiltration bid in Samba sector

New Delhi, May 19

The Border Security Force (BSF) today said that its personnel foiled an infiltration bid and arrested a Pakistani intruder late Tuesday night. The intruder got injured in firing along the International Border (IB) in Samba sector.

Officials in the border guarding force said the security personnel opened fire at the person while he was trying to sneak into the Indian side of the border near Samba sector. The action resulted in a bullet injury to the intruder.

According to sources, upon noticing the suspicious movement of the intruder, security men challenged him. Later, the troopers fired shots, resulting in an injury to the intruder. “He was treated at the BSF dispensary initially and later handed over to police,” sources said.

The name of the arrested persons is Asif and he belongs to Lahore in Pakistan, a senior official said, adding that he had been referred to a Jammu hospital for better treatment.

It is to be noted that this is the second infiltration attempt in Samba sector in the past fortnight. Earlier, an intruder was shot dead by BSF jawans along the IB in the same sector on May 5.

Motive unclear
