Heavy mortar shelling and firing with heavy and small arms has been reported from across the LoC during the last 24 hours from various areas in Nowshera subdistrict in Rajouri and Mendhar, Krishna Ghati sectors in Poonch.

In Nowshera sector, as a precautionary measure, a critical care ambulance and a police bunker vehicle were sent to Bhawani to shift the injured and rescue the civilians in case of any emergency.

“Except an incident of dry grass fire caused due to mortar landing in Sher forward village, no report of loss to infrastructure or injury was came to surface,” said Sukhdev Singh Samyal, Additional DC, Nowshera.

“Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing from small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Nowshera, Mendhar and Krishna Ghati sectors,” said Lt Col Davender Anand, PRO, defence.

He added Army had retaliated befittingly. Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked heavy mortar shelling and firing on Indian forward locations in Jhangar, Sher, Makri, Namb, Kharali, Kalsian at about 10 am today. — OC
