Jammu, April 6
Stating that the notice issued by the School Education Department to the management of private schools for the extension in collection of fee up to April 30 is a much needed step in the time of crisis, parents are now hoping that there will be a permanent solution for charging of annual fee by the private schools every year by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
“We are happy that the School Education Department has also taken serious note of the annual fee being charged by the private schools every year, especially those affiliated with the CBSE. Now, when they have been told to submit their recommendations regarding the same, we are hopeful that there will be a permanent solution to charging of annual fee every year.”, a group of parents said.
“Even the quarterly fee being charge by the private schools is between 6,000-12,000 or even more then what is the logic behind charging of the annual fee? What is more surprising is that when the parents ask for explanation, the managements have no answer at all”, another parent said.
“The portal launched by the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) is also a brilliant initiative to curb the menace of arbitrary annual fee being charged by the private schools. We appeal the J&K Government to issue necessary order regarding the issue before the submission of school fee by April 30”, a parent adde.
After The Tribune had highlighted the plight of helpless parents who were asked by the private schools in Jammu Province to submit annual/school fee amid deadly the Covid-19 outbreak, the School Education Department had issued an order and extended the last date up to April 30 for the submission of school fee without any late fee.
The managements of all private schools affiliated with the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE)/Central Board of Seconary Education (CBSE)/Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) of J&K UT were issued directions.
