A day after the Ministry of Home Affairs notified 85% job reservation for locals, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) criticised the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led J&K government for its “sky-high promises, zero delivery.” The notification followed extensive discussions between the Leh Apex Body, Kargil Democratic Alliance, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

PDP Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Waheed Para said, "Ladakh secured 85% job reservation for locals without even a legislative Assembly. Ladakhi leaders worked, engaged, and delivered. Meanwhile, 8-months on, the J&K’s government, with an absolute majority, remains inactive." He has previously criticised the government for not advocating for statehood with the central government.

Para also targeted the National Conference (NC) for passing a resolution on special status and statehood outside the J&K Assembly. The issue of statehood remains contentious, with the central government assuring that it will be granted at the appropriate time.

Para said: “So, the NC, armed with a brute mandate of 50 MLAs, passed a resolution on special status and statehood—not in the J&K Assembly, where such matters belong, but in its party office, Nawai-i-Subh. Let that sink in. What’s next? A Cabinet meeting in the party office?”
