Pending renewals extended upto June 30, clarifies RTO

The Road Transport Officer (RTO), Jammu, has clarified that all pending renewals of licence and token of vehicles will be taken up after June 30 and owners of the vehicles need not worry about the expiry of document in the lockdown.
RTO Dhantar Singh said as per the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH), an advisory had been issued to relax the expiry dates for all renewals till June 30.
“The government has also given the exemption for first quarter of the financial year i.e, April to June for all vehicles pending for the renewal of token and licences and till that period no late fee will be charged,” said Dhantar Singh.
He said for the new registration of vehicles, the procedure of inspection had been put on hold, but the numbers would be allotted to the owners online. “After June 30, we will take up the inspection part,” said the RTO.
The RTO further clarified that the data being received on the Vahan Portal for registration was done online and there was no need for any person to come to the RTO office. “In case the lockdown extends beyond June 30, a new government order will be followed and further guidelines released,” he said.
