Criticising the authorities for now allowing Eid prayers at Eidgah and Jama Masjid, Kashmir’s chief cleric and chairman of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Monday said he was detained at his home.
In a statement, Mirwaiz said, “I strongly condemn the authorities decision to once again deny the Muslims the basic right to offer Eid prayers at Jama Masjid which have been closed down and I have been detained at home.” He said that even at the peak of miltancy, Eid prayers were offered at Eidgah.
