Police attach TRF commander’s property under UAPA in Srinagar
TRF claimed responsibility for the April attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people
Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a property belonging to Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, a designated terrorist and founder of the terror group ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF), under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The TRF is believed to be a proxy organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, also known as Sajad Gul, is currently based in Pakistan. He was declared a terrorist by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in 2022. The TRF claimed responsibility for the April attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
The Srinagar Police attached a three-storey residential house built on 15 marlas of land at Rose Avenue, HMT, Srinagar. Valued at approximately Rs 2 crore, the property is registered in the name of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, Sajad’s father, according to revenue records.
The attachment was carried out under Section 25 of the UAPA in connection with a case registered at Parimpora police station. The procedure was executed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate.
Though the property is in the name of Sajad’s father, police investigations indicate that Sajad Gul is an active stakeholder. Authorities say he has been involved in facilitating terrorism, spreading anti-national propaganda, and inciting disaffection against the government through various online and social media platforms.
This move is part of the Srinagar Police’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the financial, logistical, and operational networks supporting terrorism, including their cross-border sponsors and sympathisers.
