Police carry out raid in Handwara

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have conducted a raid at the residence of a banned Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party’s (JKDFP) member for his association with a banned outfit in Handwara.

In 2023, the Centre had banned jailed separatist Shabir Ahmad Shah’s JKDFP for five years for its “anti-India” and “pro-Pakistan” activities.

A spokesperson said acting on reliable information, a police team raided the house of Farooq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Turpora, Handwara, on Saturday evening. The search was conducted in connection with the ongoing investigation in an FIR registered at the Handwara police station. The police said incriminating material was seized during the raid and more searches could be carried out in near future.
