Srinagar, January 13
The Jammu and Kashmir police has intensified its anti-drug drive and apprehended four drug peddlers in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, recovering contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesman said two persons, identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar and Mohd Altaf Sofi, of Chakloo, Baramulla, were intercepted at a checkpoint in Chandoosa. On search, the police recovered 40 grams of heroin from their possession. Both were arrested and are currently held in custody at PS Chandoosa.
The spokesman said a team from Kunzer police station in north Kashmir intercepted a Sumo vehicle carrying Hilal Ahmad Wani and Bilal Ahmad Wani of Barzulla, Kunzer. Upon searching the vehicle, they found 510 grams of charas and 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate syrup. The suspects have been arrested and are now in custody at PS Kunzer. The police said cases under the relevant sections of the law have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations are underway.
