Jammu, August 18

“The elections will provide an opportunity to the people of J&K to hold the autocratic regime accountable for misdeeds that led to the suffering of the common masses in the last ten years,” said Apni Party provincial president in Jammu and former minister Manjit Singh.

Singh was addressing a public meeting here at a village in Vijaypur as the party unit intensified the door-to-door campaign in Samba district.

He said the people wanted an elected government that would be powerful enough to initiate developmental works and generate employment opportunities. The present government had failed to do the needful for public welfare and the decisions that it took in these years were mostly unilateral and without the consultation of the public representatives, he added.

“Jammu has suffered badly under the present regime after the downfall in tourism. Poor road connectivity and lack of efforts to revive hotel and transport industry has sunk the local economy, compelling youth to migrate to other states,” he said.
