Although polythene carry bags have been banned in Jammu and Kashmir UT and regular drives are carried out by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) which is given much publicity, but the use of poly products continues in the city. Civic bodies have also failed to introduce some alternative to the polythene and have not encouraged bio-degradable products.

School without water supply
Students of Government Girls Primary School, Thathrian, Jammu zone, are deprived of water supply from the past 20 days. Despite taking up the issue with the PHE engineers concerned about the plight of students, water is not being supplied. Even food under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme is not being prepared. We have to fetch water from residents and temple near the school. It is a matter of concern that the PHE Department is not taking any interest.
