Director Health Services (DHS), Jammu, Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar on Wednesday reviewed preparedness of health institutions to handle health conditions triggered by the heat wave in the region.

The meeting was attended virtually by Medical Superintendents of Gandhi Nagar and Jagti, all CMOs and Medical Superintendents of Jammu Division.

Controller of Stores Dr Ritesh Khullar and Nodal Officer, National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH), Dr Rashmi Sharma also attended the meeting.

Taking stock of the overall situation, the DHS laid stress on conducting aggressive IEC campaigns to enhance awareness on prevention and control of heat related illnesses.

The DHS directed the CMOs and MSs to establish ORS corners, maintain stocks of essential medicines, IV fluid and keep heat stroke rooms ready in all health facilities. Availability of ambulance services and fire safety protocols in the health institutions was also stressed upon. He instructed all stakeholders to keep record of heat-related illness cases at PHC/ NTPHC/ UPHC levels and update the same on Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) portal on daily basis.
